Sunderland City Council Major Incident Plan
Aims and Objectives
The aim of the Plan is to enable the speedy mobilisation of all
necessary resources required to deal with a major incident and to
provide a line of communication and command at the incident, along
with the co-ordination of the services deployed. Each service involved
will have developed its own emergency procedures.
- The objectives of the
plan are to mitigate the effects of a Major Incident on the populace
of Sunderland. To achieve this, the plan defines:
- the method and means of alerting the local authority to the emergency;
- the functions and roles of local authority services;
- the co-ordination of the various local authority services by
the appointment of Strategic, Tactical and Operational teams, and;
- briefly outlines the function and role of the emergency services,
national bodies, public utilities, voluntary bodies and other involved
organisations.

Newcastle City Council Emergency Response Plan
In recognition of the seriousness of the consequences likely to arise following a disaster the Newcastle City Council Emergency Response Plan ensures that the Council is in an appropriate state of readiness to respond to any such event.
The Plan enables the speedy mobilisation of all necessary resources required to mitigate the effects of a major incident on the population of Newcastle and is designed to provide a flexible Council response for any level of incident.
To achieve this, the plan details the roles and responsibilities of key council officers who have a role to play in a major incident response whether as a member of the Crisis Management Team set up to control and co-ordinate council resources, or as someone who is in a front line response role.
Overall the plans main objectives and areas of responsibility can be summarised as:
- City Council Activation.
- Incident Management.
- Public Information and Media Relations.
- Recovery and Restoration following a Major Incident.
- Service Continuity during a Major Incident.

Tyneside Major Incident Plan
THE NORTH TYNESIDE MAJOR
INCIDENT PLAN IS DESIGNED TO BE IMPLEMENTED WHEN A MAJOR INCIDENT
IS DECLARED BY THE POLICE AND LOCAL AUTHORITY ASSISTANCE IS REQUESTED.
The aim of this Plan
is to enable the speedy mobilisation of all necessary resources
required to deal with a major incident and to provide a line of
communication and command at the incident along with the co-ordination
of the services deployed. Each service involved will have developed
its own emergency procedures, the main aim of this plan being to
provide the Emergency Services with one point of contact for all
Local Authority and voluntary services, thus easing their operational
burden and allowing their resources to be concentrated in their
specialist role.
This Plan is designed to provide a flexible response. It may therefore
be partially activated for any level of incident. A record should
be made each time the Plan is activated, and the Local Authority
Emergency Centre alerted at once to standby should the incident
escalate.
The objectives of this
Plan are to mitigate the effects of a Major Civil Incident on the
people of North Tyneside. To achieve this it defines the method
and means of alerting the Local Authority to the emergency; the
functions and roles of Local Authority Services; briefly outlines
the function and role of the Emergency Services; and secures the
co-ordination of the various Local Authority Services by the appointment
of Officers with distinct functional responsibilities who would
discharge those responsibilities under the control and direction
of the Incident Controller. Appendices are included to identify
the manpower and material resources available for a particular task
and support documentation for certain identified scenarios.

Gateshead Council Major Incident Plan
The aims of Gateshead Council Major Incident Plan are to:
- make clear the Council's expected central response and decision making arrangements in a major incident;
- ensure that Local Authority staff can quickly respond when requested;
- provide a line of communication and command at the incident which co-ordinates Council activity on site;
- provide the Emergency Services with one point of contact for all Authority services;
- guide staff involved through the process of supporting the emergency services.

South Tyneside Emergency Response Plan
THE SOUTH TYNESIDE EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN IS DESIGNED TO BE IMPLEMENTED WHEN A MAJOR INCIDENT IS DECLARED, AND LOCAL AUTHORITY ASSISTANCE IS REQUIRED.
The Plan details the arrangements that are in place to enable the speedy mobilisation of necessary resources required to deal with a major incident, and to provide a line of communication and command at the incident along with the co-ordination of the Council services deployed.
